Northwest Airlines Localization
Ion Global has worked with Northwest Airlines - the world's fifth largest airline - since 1998. Ion Global built the company's first Asian language web sites covering 6 languages and 14 countries, based on English language templates provided by Northwest.
In 2001, Ion Global devised a user-friendly two-stage CMS for Asian-based marketing managers to publish English, Chinese, Korean and Thai content to a server-farm in Minneapolis.
In 2002 Ion Global developed a translation repository to enable Northwest to flexibly manage the content translation/publishing for its online services.
In 2003, Ion Global and Northwest created an n-stage multi-lingual content approval mechanism - the first of its kind in the world - to help the airline work more effectively with its partners across timezones, and to speed its time to market for promotional offers. In the same year, Northwest refreshed its brand, necessitating a major overhaul of everything that had been done until then, and Ion Global rolled out a dedicated travel agents' web site.
Now, Ion Global works to maintain and expand all these systems, manage technology infrastructure, and create innovative online marketing campaigns.
